The Snow, The Snow!

You see this little boy – he is the best.  Yesterday, we spent the evening overlooking all the hundreds of dollars of toys and books in this house and spent the night building a tent out of a cardboard box and matching capes out of old T-Shirts.  He has such an amazing sense of humor and his opinion is getting more strong every day.  Case in point, when mommy told him to stop breaking apart the Styrofoam thingies from inside the box all over the floor, he told me to “go away, go sit on the couch in the odder room.”  When I told him that wasn’t nice to say – he responded with “I sorry mama, but go way.”

Today, we got our first snow of the season in Wisconsin.  It has been a beautiful snow but you can see if the wind picks up it is going to get really nasty.  Cameron was determined to go out and help me shovel the driveway.  We got all bundled up in our winter coats, gloves, hats, and boots.  He got his child sized shovel and helped me with all the snow.  He even went over and made a snow angel and threw a snowball.  I’ve never taught him those things but I think maybe as a boy – he just knows.  Upon coming inside all red nosed and snow covered, he snuck in a snow ball, threw it at my butt and promptly asked for “ice keam please mama.”  Nothing fills a tummy better after a snowy day outside like a good bowl of ice cream.  Nothing warms my heart more than this little man.

Christmas Wrapped Up

We made it!  That is all I can say.  There is very little that I did in the blog world between December 10th and January 3rd so thank you loyal readers for coming back to visit us Kids.  How were your holidays?  Ours – wonderful – drama free – exhausting.  I had my moments of crabby – but overall, it was a great month.

We started with Christmas #1 in Illinois with the Harvard family.  This Christmas was the time I realized that having to open presents for myself, Cameron, wrangle him, keep on task was exhausting.  We had so much fun with the usual traditions including poppers at the tables and crowns all around.

Sorry for the lack of additional pictures on that one…I was a bit overwhelmed with logistics and wrapping paper to capture the moment.  Moving onto Christmas #2 – a trip to Nebraska.

Through 16 hours of driving to Nebraska and back, Jeff and I couldn’t stop commenting on how wonderful this Christmas was.  Getting to watch it through Cameron’s eyes has been so amazing.  It has changed how we view the meaning of the holidays altogether.  With our sleigh weighed down with gifts to each Christmas and home again, there was nothing in that car that we needed but the others in the car and the others we left behind.  I hope your Christmas was as beautiful and humbling as ours.
