Catching Up: May Travels

I was going to title this what I was doing when my head wasn’t in the toilet, but thought that some of the google searches on that would be odd and wasn’t sure I wanted that traffic.  First of all, thanks to everyone for the comments and calls and texts and facebook posts.  We are really excited.  I’ve written before around telling people you are pregnant, and all of those same thoughts hold true this time…but that is for another post.

Here is what we have been up to…starting in May…

Daddy was away at his annual meeting, so Cameron and I road-tripped to Nebraska!  Cameron and Grandpa rode the Gator and I slept.  Alot.

Then it was Mothers Day, and we had brunch and hung out in our backyard…oh, back when everything was green and lush, unlike now…

Our annual city festival kicked off the Summer and Cam was finally big enough to ride the rides.  Seriously, that crap is expensive and kinda creepy.  Sorry Mom and Dad, I had no idea how much those end of school mall parking lot carnivals were costing you!

We watched lots of Baseball and got to touch alot of Big Trucks!

I had trips to Nashville and Atlanta and luckily, Cameron waved to my airplane every time I left!  My heart melts.

Mainly, our May was spent outside in our Sandbox and watching the ducks in our backyard.  It was a great May….

Hope you had a good May….Hope you also like all the pics!

Packing 101 | Charlotte, NC

On the road again to Charlotte, NC this week.  I know nothing about the area but am looking forward to the trip  as it is a new place I’ve never been and am really exited about the upcoming meetings with my co-workers!  So, here is what I’m packing….

Having so much fun shopping my closet and am so excited to see some of my blogger friends doing a 30 in 30 challenge with their closets!  Wanna see some more closet love?  Click here to see some secrets from the star’s closets and some tips for keeping your closet fresh!

So, who has ideas for things to do in Charlotte?

Dear Albany

Listen, I appreciate that you weren’t covered in 20 feet of snow in February.  I appreciate even more that you are not predicting a massive snow storm before I leave.  What I don’t quite understand?  This bed.  This entire hotel, but most specifically, this four poster canopy sportin’, breadspread-lovin, grandma channeling bed.  It’s been real Albany.

Posting over at Mama’s Gone Madison today.  Stop by and say hello!

Working Mama Blues

20120206-202436.jpg

Oh that face. Those deep brown eyes. Those cheeks that I fell in love with from the 20 week ultrasound. My son.

I am having the hardest time leaving this boy at home during this work trip. His dad and he will have an amazing time. They will wrestle and play soccer and grunt and fart and do all the things boys do. But I will miss my night time cuddles, the stories of the day as we sit in the dark and try to fall asleep. The greeting of “good morning mama. Big nap!” every time I open the door to his room. Hearing my name yelled at the top of the stairs, from the next room, in my ear 2 inches from him.

I love to travel, I love my job, but I love this boy so much. I am so grateful to have him to come home to at the end of this week. A big hug, kiss, and a request for airplane cookies. Sure bubba. What ever you want. I am putty in your little catsup and Oreo covered hands. Mommy loves you.

P.S. thank you to the greatest husband ever for supporting me and the job I love. I couldn’t ask for a better partner. Love and miss you too.

Packing 101 | Week Long Work Trip

Well, this mama is on the road again. It has been about 6 weeks since my last work trip and to be honest, I’m itching to travel some place new again. This week I’ll be in Albany, NY and Nashville, TN. I do hate being away from the family, but it is a nice balance for me to be all mommy all the time when I’m home, and independent career girl when I’m not.

So, for a week, what to pack? Well, here is my plan:

Packing List

  • One pair of black fleece leggings – American Apparel
  • One pair of trouser pants – Gap
  • One pair of jeans – J.Jeans
  • Brown boots – ShoeDazzle
  • Leopard Print Ballet Flats – Gap from last season but here are some like them
  • Leopard Print Belt – no idea where this came from
  • Chambray Shirt – Old Navy
  • White Tank – H&M – pretty basic
  • Yellow Cardigan – Forever 21 – Three seasons ago…
  • Gray Dress – Zara – Not online ;(
  • Boyfriend Blazer – Gap
  • Urban Junket t.o.t.e. Convertible Tote – I will go on record saying this is the best bag EVER for travel.  Quote me.
  • And Accessories -Francesca’s

I’m sure I’ll feel guilty and throw in workout clothes and tennis shoes.  Add that to my underthings and pajamas, and I think I have it paired down to a nice little wardrobe that will get me through a week of work, meetings, and a bit of socializing.  Not bad for living out of a suitcase for a week right?
