Our Basement Remodel

So, after going back and forth over the last few months, we have finally decided we will be staying in our house and doing some remodeling.  You see, I started working from home in November of 2010.  At that time, I had a son who would just sit and play and stay in the same spot you left him.  He was easily amused.

Now, on the days where Jeff picks up from daycare, my day ends when those boys walk through the door mainly because my office is right next to the door.  Our main goal for either looking for a new house or remodeling is to provide me with an office with a door.  We met with a few contractors and had lots of ideas.  The one we settled on…remodel the basement!

Here is how the beauty looks now:

Going down the stairs from door number 2 in the kitchen…Isn’t that black hot.

View as you enter the basement – COLORFUL TOY HEAVEN, with more black outlines and fancy paneling.  Love that drop ceiling.  Can you tell yet how much I love my basement?

This is where I get buff.  I mean Jeff stays buff and my Pilates Machine laughs at me.

Now isn’t this an inviting place to rest as a guest.  Thank goodness that my sister and brother are so exhausted when they get here and don’t complain too much.

Sophisticated storage.  AKA, my craft “room”.  Let’s take a moment if silence for the 1980s black and white basement.

**SILENCE**

Now that moment has passed, let’s look forward to the future!

So excited about what will be coming with this space.  We will be building out the wall between the exercise area and the rest of the room, painting the concrete floors and painting the now open ceiling.  Will also be dry-walling the paneling and updating the lighting and wiring.  Our goal – all construction, materials, lighting fixtures, and french door $3,000 or less.  What do you think?  Can we do it?

I’ll be sharing the process over the next few months.  So excited to share with you our finished product!
